I just tried to make a VoIP-over-4G call on Verizon LTE using Bria on Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Fail. Works over wifi, though. It sounded like the audio was just about to start, when it disconnected.

It would seem very problematic for an internet provider to block packets. Not sure if there is another explanation for this failure.

Please don’t give up on audio quality. A friend of mine gave up his landline because he has a 4G phone, but he’s in a poor reception area, and I haven’t called him since.

I sent an uncle an old landline phone because his home wireless phone was so awful.

Yes, if you use cell phones all the time you have given up on quality, and you accept bad calls as the norm. But personally I hardly ever use a cell phone, so I seem to be on the losing end of 40% of my calls.

Similarly, Skype users get used to the fact that they are going to lose a certain percentage of their calls, maybe 30% crater due to bandwidth volatility.

The iPod is just the next step in the Sony Walkman. First tape, then disc, then hard disc. Sony missed a step, and poof: they’re history in this category.

If Sony doesn’t start making SmartTVs before Apple, they’ll be history again, and then really history.

It’s scary how quickly companies must transform themselves. I understand that kids can quickly pick up an F-16 pilot’s skills (in simulators).

Nokia’s aligning with Windows seems a bad bet and a bad sign. RIM’s chances are declining. And declining popularity seems to guarantee its fate. Sears, MySpace, Saab – all goners.

Having read some strange things about eating live Octopus to ensure its fresh, this really does walk close to the line. I think I prefer mine slightly more cooked than this.
